The first flaw in this reasoning is obvious; when we take in food we don't burn it in a fire. We do not.

The second flaw is making the assumption that the food is completely absorbed and converted to energy. It is not.

The third flaw is assuming that the process is 100% efficient. It is not.

The fourth flaw is assuming that carbohydrates, protein, and fats are converted into energy with the same efficiency. They are not.

The fifth flaw in comparing our metabolism to the laws of thermodynamics is that we are not a closed system and energy can be lost or converted to matter. We are not a closed system.
